Ghana defender, Harrison Afful has been named by MLSsoccer.com as Columbus Crew SC’s most irreplaceable player in the 2017/2018 season.
The 32-year-old who joined America’s Major League Soccer (MLS) outfit in 2015 from Esperance Sportive has been impressive, scoring five goals in 95 appearances for the Eastern Conference side.
According to MLSsoccer.com, although a football season depends on many things, sometimes it depends on one outstanding person to turn things around for a particular team.
On their website, it stated that “Harrison Afful: A Caleb Porter team, at its best, uses the outside backs as the key variable to unbalance a defence. Afful plays the marauding fullback role better than anyone else in MLS.”
The former Asante Kotoko defender was adjudged the best performer for his side, whiles England’s former captain Wayne Rooney was the best for his team, DC United.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic was also pronounced as LA Galaxy’s best player for the season and other top players who influenced their team positively throughout the 2017/2018 season.
Afful will be hoping to make the cut to represent Ghana in the 32nd Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
