Akakpo Patron. assistant coach of Asante Kotoko has expressed his delight with the performance of his player in the CAF Confederation Cup victory over Coton Sport de Garoua on Sunday.
Emmanuel Gyamfi and Maxwell Boakye gave the Porcupine Warriors a 2-0 lead 30 minutes into the game before Kamilou Dauda pulled one back for Coton Sports before the half time break.
The Cameroonians club came into the second half in search of an equalizer and mounted pressure on Asante Kotoko.
Coach CK Akunnor’s side proved to be very resilient and added to their goal tally when Abdul Fatawu picked up a misplaced pass and slotted home to give Kotoko a 3-1 lead.
Kamilou Dauda, however, scored his second goal of the day to reduce the deficit for his side.
Kotoko were able to maintain their goal advantage as the game ended 3-2 in their favour ahead of the return encounter.
The home side’s consolations, though, came from Daouda Kamilou and Lambert Gueme Araina.
However, speaking to Happy FM from the club’s base in Cameroon, coach the former WAFA assistant coach believes every member of the playing body deserve praise and assured that the players that did not feature deserve equal praise.
“The players we were ready to outplay themselves whenever the opportunity is given. I am very impressed with the performance of the players. They played according to the instructions we gave them,” he told Happy FM.
“All Kotoko players will get their chance to play for the team. No player should feel left out of this celebration.”
The second leg tie has been scheduled for Sunday January 20 at the Baba Yaya Stadium in Kumasi.
