Head Coach of the Black Stars Kwasi Appiah has backed Kumasi Asante Kotoko to make it to the next stage of the CAF Confederations Cup competition ahead of their two legged tie against Cameroonian side Cotton Sport Garoua.
The Porcupine Warriors have one final hurdle to cross in order to qualify to the group stage of this year’s continental competition. They will play against Cotton Sport this Sunday in Cameroon for the first leg of the tie before returning to Ghana for what will be the decider.
Kwasi Appiah despite being confident of Kotoko’s progress says it will not be an easy game for the side and they will need to be at their best in order to get a good results in Cameroon.
“I think it won’t be an easy game that Kotoko can just say we are going to be at them. An even nowadays every club will surely not make it easy for you to score them”.
“The most important thing is that Kotoko should correct their mistakes in the last match they played. If they are able to do that I believe they can win and move forward”, the Black Stars gaffer said in an interview.
The former Kotoko Captain insists that even though the Kotoko team looks new, he hopes the previous matches they have played will give them the edge to at least pick up a point from the first leg of the Cotton Sport match.
“The Kotoko team as we see now is virtually new. They have a new manager and some new players to have joined the club. So sometimes it takes sometime before you can get a formidable side”.
“So far they have played a lot of matches so I am 100% sure that once they are able to get a least a draw from the first leg they will be able to progress to the next stage of the competition”, Kwasi Appiah added.
Kotoko will face Cotton Sport this Sunday, January 13 at 2pm.
