Ghanaian international Thomas Teye Partey played the full 90 minutes today as his side Athletico Madrid defeated Eibar in the La Liga at their home stadium, Wanda Metropolitano.
The Black Stars midfield enforcer was used as a defensive midfield pair with club team mate Rodri. A good day at the office ensured that Partey helped his side to finish the match without conceding a goal.
The victors striker Nicola Kalinic opened the scoring on the 25th minutes to give his side the lead going into the break. World Cup winner Antoine Griezmann got on the score sheet on the 82nd minute before Rodri found the back of the net some few minutes to full time. The three goals were enough to give the team from the Spanish capital all three points.
Thomas Partey however finished the match with a yellow card which he picked up in the second half. It is only fair to say the midfield kingpin repaid his gaffer’s trust by starting him today.
The victory puts them 3rd on the La Liga Santander table after 15 matches with 28 points.
