The second edition of the Citi Business Forum came off on Thursday, September 13, 2018, in Accra on the theme: After China, what next?

The resource persons included Director at the Centre for Asian Studies at the University of Ghana, Dr. Lloyd Amoah, Executive Director of the Third World Network, Dr. Yao Graham, Ghana-China analyst, Dr. Glenn Gyimah and Minister of Information designate, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah.

The panel discussed ways to Ghana could benefit from its relationship with China at the forum held at the Swiss Spirit Hotel.

Panelists at the forum cautioned government on the benefits to be derived from recent agreements signed between the two countries.

Ghana signed eight Co-operation Agreements and Memoranda of Understanding with China, in different sectors of their respective economies, aimed at deepening the ties of co-operation and the bonds of friendship that exist between the two countries a few weeks ago.

The agreements were signed on President Akufo-Addo’s state visit to China where he held bilateral talks with that country’s president.

Speaking at the forum, Dr. Llyod Amoah was of the view that government has no clear strategy on its investment agreements with China.

“I have argued that we have more gestures than strategy. Visits, statements, loans but I do not see the strategy. If you have read your Ghanaian war strategy thinkers and all,…I do not see our strategy. I think we need strategy and flowing from strategy will come mechanisms,” he added.
