NDC polls: We’ll restructure to attract more youth

An aspiring National Democratic Congress (NDC) National Youth Organizer, Brogya Gyenfi believes the party would win the support of more youth in the country if a deputy youth organizer portfolio is created at the party’s branch level.

According to him, the new portfolio will aid in sharpening the NDC’s youth structure which can spearhead campaigns in elections.

“We need to restructure the entire youth structure because that’s how you will be able to function and to be able to lead a campaign.”

The NDC is currently in the process of organizing primaries for its regional and national executives ahead of the 2020 general elections.

Speaking to Citi News, Brogya Gyenfi said the election of a deputy youth organizer at the branch level would boost youth participation in the party.

“I think that we need to start from the base which is the branch. I have already sent the proposal to the functioning executive committee for us to consider an election of a deputy youth organizer at the branch level so that we increase the youth participation at the branch level and if that amendment is accepted together with the main youth organizer we can have a youth working committee of a sort at the branch”.

“I think that the youth structure should be restructured. We have the constituency youth organizers their deputies, we the regional executives with two deputies and we have a national youth organizer with two deputies. We are supposed to have constituency youth working committees which most of the constituency does not have”, he argued.

NDC polls: George Loh confident about his chances

Former National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament for North Dayi constituency, George Loh is convinced he would emerge as the party’s next Volta Regional Secretary after the NDC’s primaries.

He is contesting the position with three others namely, James Gunu, Manfred Nuku-Dei and Simon Amegashie-Viglo.

George Loh in a Citi News interview said he is excited about the exercise saying he will surely excel.

“I have attended some vetting as well, so I am not expecting anything spectacular. I believe that the vetting process is to ensure that you qualify to contest…I am upbeat about my chances, but you know that this is a delegates’ election, but I am counting on these delegates,” he added.

When asked about his chances, Mr. Loh said: “I believe in the qualities I possess, and the capabilities I have and the delegates have vowed to move with me.”
