Bryan Acheampong Foundation To Provide 100 Mechanized Boreholes

The Bryan Acheampong Foundation, a non- governmental organization in the Kwahu East District has started constructing and rehabilitating mechanized boreholes in 100 communities across the district, to help solve the water problem in the area.

Among the beneficiary communities include Orobon, Nteso, Atta Ne Atta, Beboa, Ankomah, Attarekan, Twewaa, Oframase and Abisu Number 1 and 2.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Mr Eric Nyarko, the Director of the Foundation, explained that the gesture was to ensure good personal hygiene and improve the provision of water to the people in the District.

He said that the Foundation has already provided 10 poly tanks to two communities to provide temporal solution to water challenge in the area. It has also provided a water tanker to provide water to the communities during the dry season.

Mr Nyarko said the Foundation would offer free training to some selected community members in the maintenance of the boreholes to ensure its sustainability.

He said the NGO had carried out hygiene education in public schools across the District with emphasis on hand washing and after the education provided the schools with hand washing facilities.

Mr Nyarko said BAF would support some communities to construct household latrines and appealed to home owners to construct latrines in their homes to deal with the open defecation challenge in the area.
